ISLA99 is a self-organising platform that supports its members through network-based economies, generated and governed by members.
The platform enables individuals, organizations and cooperatives to mutually and collectively develop and fund creative community projects, build solidarity and exchange with spaces, practices and agents, and find markets for fair trade products.
ISLA99 is a political-economy driven by shared ethics, values and peer2peer exchange that serve as an alternative to hierarchical, exploitative systems.
We assemble and pool members' efforts, projects, networks and ideas into common, mutually beneficial spaces.
We and our members are committed to ethical practices across places, communities, spaces and projects.
We seek to reclaim, respect and support agency, autonomy and identity as alternatives to capitalist systems.
We hope the cooperative will become a unique model for collective, mutually beneficial arts projects that benefit communities around the world by providing creative solutions to local problems using local and international artists as facilitators. By developing and selling locally sourced products, fairly, on behalf of local people to international sources, the cooperative will also build upon its overall aim of using creativity to help communities to develop sustainable, self-governing ways of living.
We will use the strength and solidarity of this global collective and community as a means of invigorating local action, and also to reinforce and build local projects and local spaces that grow and nurture new, mutually beneficial and supportive ideas about autonomy, sustainability and empowerment.
